It’s November again and that means the LNL anniversary is here. It is my sixth year owning the show and I’m planning a few special episodes for the future. My journey for hardwickii started in 2012-2014 while I was looking for a source to import from. The import fees of $1000-$1500 on top of $3500-$5000 per animals was obviously too steep for a hobbyist like myself. It's funny now that I look back on my taxes and see I spent well over $10,000 during some seasons just for the best racks, supplies, and genetics. Today I got my first pair, five years later. We look at the market today and see a huge discrepancy in pricing. Breeders are still paying $400-$1000 each for animals that are all the wild type variation, that's a huge difference for geckos that all look the same. Not to mention the extreme variation in care sheets. The American care is typical leopard gecko with extra moist hides, while the Soviet care is drastically cooler and close to Chinese Cave Geckos. For now I will stick to the American variation and when I have babies I may try some on the Soviet variation. These are still extremely rare in the American exotics market so hopefully more people are successful breeding them. I hope you guys enjoy as I hopefully post more regular updates on the hardwickii and other species I have.

Hey guys! Sorry it has been so long since my last blog post. In 2014 we proved out our first new genetic eye pigment gene from pure Fasciolatus. Now we have a good breeding pool and a couple outcrosses to work with this year and next. Pictured is a pure Gem Snow Fasciolatus with the new eye pigment gene. We are letting the pure Fasciolatus pair rest this year and will hopefully bring them back in 2018, they are quite old now and can't breed every year. 2016 will be an awesome year for Afghan projects. I'm changing it up a bit and doing some crosses that haven't been attempted yet. It will be cool to see what it looks like in a few years, I should have this project finished in 2020.

This month we bought our first group of tree frogs. I've always loved this type so I figured it was a great way to get into them. I have a group of four with at least two females. Breeding is something I will be attempting with them when they are ready. Right now we have them in a quarantine enclosure to watch for diseases and sickness. So far they are doing great and will come to me for feeding, and even eat from my hand. This is definitely one species everyone should have.
